Sherriff Amenity is pleased to announce the appointment of new amenity specialist Craig Spooner, who will be responsible for covering the East Anglian area for the company. Craig joins from Limagrain, the largest seed company in Europe.
With an impressive employment history including greenkeeping positions at a string of golf clubs such as The Forest of Arden, The Isle of Purbeck and Leatherhead, Craig landed the role of Head Greenkeeper at Bourn Golf Club near Cambridge, where he oversaw the redevelopment of the greens. His career path then took him to Limagrain where he specialised in the Amenity sector for nearly eight years. It was during this position that he first worked with Sherriff Amenity when he supported the sales team who were selling the MM and Designer range of seed.
“I got to know quite a lot of Sherriff Amenity customers during my time at Limagrain. I liked the idea of having more products to talk to people about; Sherriff Amenity have the best product range for greenkeepers and groundsman in the amenity sector and being such an established company I felt that it would be good move. The more I thought about it I just felt that it was a great opportunity for me. It was an easy decision really,” said Craig.
Sherriff Amenity is one of the UK’s leading turf care and sports equipment suppliers, and as a result Craig gets the opportunity to visit a number of sports venues in his designated area; something which he thrives upon.
“I love getting the chance to see the end user; to find out what they are trying to do, give them advice and hopefully build up a good relationship with them. It’s great to be in a position where I can really help the end user improve their bowls green, golf course, cricket squares or whatever it may be.
“I will also work with schools, landscapers and contractors. It’s a question of seeing people to build up their trust. This job enables me to see such a diverse range of different situations and circumstances and I like the fact that I can see everything which enables me to truly help them,” said Craig.
The East Anglian area already has an existing and thriving customer base and Sherriff Amenity’s Regional Sales Manager, Neil Pullen, believes Craig’s previous employment history will only be of benefit to the company:
“We are absolutely delighted to have Craig on-board. He brings a wealth of experience to his new role and many of our customers already know him,” said Neil.
