Sherriff Amenity has announced that it will proudly be sponsoring two open days to celebrate the tercentenary of Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown at Madingley Hall in Cambridge.
Situated in a stunning location just four miles from the centre of Cambridge, Madingley Hall boasts seven acres of spectacular gardens and grounds, which were designed in the 18th century by Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown.
Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown is considered one of the most influential landscape architects in English garden history. Brown moved earth, water and woodland to create idealised English landscape gardens, with expansive lawns, lakes and tree planting.
Over a period of 41 years, he designed over 260 landscapes – including that of Madingley Hall. His work surrounds some of the most prestigious palaces and houses in the country, including Alnwick Castle in Northumberland, Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire, Chatsworth in Derbyshire and Harewood House in Yorkshire.
The glorious gardens at Madingley Hall, reflect centuries of change, due both to the fashion of the times and the changing needs of the Hall’s inhabitants.
To help maintain the stunning gardens and grounds, Madingley Hall has enjoyed a long and productive relationship with Sherriff Amenity since 1999 and has benefitted from using a range of the company’s herbicides and fertilisers.
The open days will take place at Madingley Hall on Sunday 5 June and Friday 9 September. If you are interested in attending please visit www.madingleyhall.co.uk
